You become the vendor

No support contract means the upgrade path, the backup strategy, and the 2 a.m. incident are yours. I treat that as the job: every incident becomes a written root-cause analysis; every recurrence becomes a permanent fix.

COST-02

Integration is the product

Commercial suites integrate themselves; open tools don't. The value I add is the connective tissue — alerts that file tickets, tickets that become plans, a vault that injects secrets into deploys.

COST-03

Discipline replaces SLAs

Version pins on stateful apps, staged rollouts one host at a time, backups before changes, shadow-mode before autonomy. That's how a small platform stays boring and reliable.

Sovereignty

Customer data, tickets, code, metrics, and secrets never leave hardware I control. Compliance conversations get shorter when the answer to "where is the data?" is a rack you can point at.

No per-seat tax on growth

Adding a person, a host, or a service costs compute, not a license tier. The stack scales on hardware economics instead of vendor pricing pages.

Exit costs of zero

Every component is replaceable because every interface is open: standard protocols, exportable data, boring formats. Vendor leverage over the roadmap: none.
